Iraaya began with a chance meeting at an alumni gathering in Bangalore, where we ( Akshita & Abhijit ), discovered a shared passion for fabric, design, and India’s timeless handloom heritage. What began as lively conversations soon became a series of journeys to Banaras and Lucknow, and deep dives into the world of Indian weaves, motifs, and artisan stories.

We founded Iraaya to open the doors of authentic handloom tradition to a wider world. Our mission is to break the elitist barrier often associated with handwoven textiles, making these inspiring fabrics and the artistry behind them, accessible, relatable, and celebrated by all.
